In its County/Metro Athletic Conference opener, the Madera South girls soccer team faced a top-ranked Bullard-Fresno squad that was itching for a win after suffering its first section loss of the season.
The Knights (10-2-1, 1-0 CMAC) got out to a fast start Tuesday night, scoring three goals in the first 25 minutes of the game in a 3-0 win over the Stallions (4-7, 0-1) at Memorial Stadium.
Bullard was coming off a 2-1 loss to rival Central-Fresno in its previous game and was hoping to not have another major letdown to start off league play.
“We needed to bounce back,” Bullard head coach Onesta Francis said. “Central was a very emotional game for us. We knew a lot of their players, so it gets personal when we play them. We needed to dispel all that negative energy and have a bounce back game against a quality opponent like Madera South.”...
