Stallions look to rebound after routs

After a week where the Madera South Stallions boys basketball team faced the No. 7 and No. 4 ranked teams in the Central Section, head coach Jody Sharp is hoping his team will rebound after back-to-back routs.

“After going through the two teams that are supposed to be the best in your league, that’s the psyche you have to deal with,” Sharp said. “We have to tell them to prepare for the next game. We have to learn from this and focus on the next game. We’ll find out if there is fire in these kids in the next two games.”

After falling to No. 7 Bullard-Fresno on Tuesday, 69-30, the Stallions fell behind the fourth-ranked Edison-Fresno Tigers on Thursday at home by 33 points. However, Madera South eventually cut the lead down to 22 before suffering a 78-46 loss.

“I was real proud of the kids because we battled,” Sharp said. “I was happy with how hard they battled. We reduced the lead down to 20. We didn’t get more stops.” ...
