Madera South Stallion cross country head coach Rich Parris has tried to make his season-opening meet bigger and better than the year before.
In the third year of the revamped DeWitt Invitational, 17 high school teams, in addition to six middle school teams, will run Saturday at Lions Town and Country Park, beginning at 8 a.m.
“It’s going to be a good little meet,” Parris said. “I think the quality of it will help attract more and more teams. It’s 3,000 meters and is very spectator friendly.”
In addition to Madera South, Madera and Liberty high schools will be at the meet. Also set to run will be schools from the Central Coast Section and Clovis West, Clovis East and Clovis North of the Tri-River Athletic Conference.
