FRESNO — The Madera South Stallions, ranked No. 7 in the state, had visions of a top three finish at the CIF State cross country championships Saturday at Woodward Park.
Unfortunately, the aura of the State meet took over and the Stallions faltered slightly and settled for a seventh place finish in the Div. I race.
“I am extremely proud of the fact that we are in that race,” head coach Richard Parris said. “I look at the team and I realize that this is the best team Madera Unified has ever had, in time. Madera has always had great distance runners and you’ve seen it since the 60s. To actually have a team that we can hang our hat on and say this is the fastest team in Madera at Woodward Park. I’m proud of them. I’m proud of the sacrifices they made as a team.”
