After finishing second in its pool play with a 2-1 record, the Madera South softball team took on an undefeated Laton squad on the final day of the Stallion Showdown Tournament.
Behind the pitching of hard-throwing Sydnee Cisneros, the Mustangs advanced in Saturday’s bracket with a 3-1 win over the Stallions at Madera South High.
The Stallions were coming off a 4-0 loss to Sunnyside-Fresno in their previous game after knocking off Roosevelt-Fresno (5-2) and Mendota (9-0) to open their home tourney while Laton was 2-0-1 in Thursday and Friday pool play action with wins over Sierra-Tollhouse (9-1) and Firebaugh (3-0) along with a 1-1 tie against Minarets-O’Neals.
