Although the Madera South girls soccer team suffered quite a forgettable loss to Clovis West, Stallion head coach Patrick Evans believes opponents in the County/Metro Athletic Conference or Div. II playoffs shouldn’t take his squad lightly.
The Stallions, who begin CMAC play on Wednesday at Div. I Bullard-Fresno, enter league competition with a respectable 6-5 overall record with all five losses coming to Tri-River Athletic Conference schools Clovis North, Buchanan-Clovis, Central-Fresno, Clovis and, most recently, Clovis West, which handed Madera South a 4-1 beating on Friday at Memorial Stadium. All of the TRAC schools play at the Div. I level.
Evans isn’t shy about scheduling Div. I teams from TRAC and feels they best gauge where his players are in terms of his standards.
“The schedule is designed where you can’t play Div. I schools every time out because physically you’ll have nothing left, but the measurement for us is how hard and well we play against what are thought to be superior schools,” Evans said. “Three out of the five games, we played very hard and well against very good Div.
