Stallions fall to Apaches

The Madera South Stallion boys volleyball team couldn’t keep pace with the Sanger Apaches’ three-headed monster in a three-set loss Thursday at Madera South.

The Stallions had just two players record more than five kills — Jonathan Abraham had 13 to lead the team and Chris Federline had five. Meanwhile, the Apache threesome of Colby Hashimoto, Jose Gomez and Yueshia Xiong combined for 34 kills. Hashimoto had 13 to lead Sanger while Gomez had 12.

Despite the difference in kills, the Stallions showed fight in their first year in the County/Metro Athletic Conference.

After losing the second set 25-14, the Stallions kept battling Sanger in the third set, before losing 25-21...
