Stallions end season against Lemoore

The Madera South Stallions girls volleyball team finally ran into a team that exposed its depth in a CIF Central Section Div. II quarterfinal loss to Lemoore.

The No. 7 seeded Stallions faced No. 2 seed Lemoore and had trouble with the Tigers’ serves and tips in a 3-0 loss Tuesday in Lemoore.

This season, six Stallion starters missed time with injury or by school policy, including co-captains Justine Williams and Lilly Martinez. The Stallions were hit hardest along the back lines when liberos Edith Horta and Tanya Shinen were unavailable.

“This is the first match where our lack of back row depth hurt us,” head coach Nate Perez said. “People close to this team knew how much this team had to deal with. If more people were aware of what they had to deal with, they would be more appreciative of the team. I am so proud of their resolve.” ...
