In the home opener for the Madera South boys volleyball team, the Stallions played a very familiar opponent.

For the third time this season, the Stallions (6-10) faced the Clovis East Timberwolves of the Tri-River Athletic Conference and dropped a 3-1 match (26-24, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19) in the home opener Tuesday in Madera South High’s East Gym.

Along with the 3-1 loss, the Stallions also lost twice to Clovis East in the Sanger Tournament on March 1-2.

“This is third time we’ve faced them (the Timberwolves) and it’s not that they have posed any problems for us, it’s just about us not getting things done on our side of the net,” said seventh-year Stallion head coach Steve Guglielmana. “For example, like not going to where we are supposed to be on defense — we just can’t make mental errors like that. We have to control the ball.”...
