After two straight losses, the Madera South Stallion boys basketball team still couldn’t right the ship for three quarters against the Roosevelt-Fresno Rough Riders.

The Stallions (20-5, 5-3 North Yosemite League) found the sailing a bit easier during a 14-2 fourth quarter to close out a 43-29 victory for the program’s first-ever 20-win season.

“I’m proud of the kids,” head coach Jody Sharp said. “That was a goal to reach 20 wins. We have to take this to the next game and take it into the playoffs.”

Through the first three quarters, the Stallions held a 29-27 lead over the Rough Riders. The tandem of Shaq Moore and Travis Middleton combined for 11 of the game’s final 16 points for the win...
