When the Madera South girls soccer team faced Div. I team Clovis, it was clear that one team came ready to play and it certainly showed on the scoreboard.
Following their coach’s orders, the Cougars (5-1) were on the attack from the start and didn’t let up in a 5-0 win over the Stallions (1-2) on a cold Wednesday evening at Memorial Stadium.
“We gave the girls a challenge that we wanted a goal in the first five minutes and that’s what we did,” Clovis head coach Jeff Annis said. “We wanted to play high pressure, move the ball as quickly as we could, get up the field in numbers and put the ball in the back of the net. We seemed to get that accomplished early on and from there it snowballed down the line.”
