With the regular season opener at Kerman right around the corner, the Madera South football team got into the "Friday Night Lights" competitive spirit when it participated in an intrasquad scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.

After a scheduled scrimmage at Buchanan-Clovis on Thursday, the Stallions officially kick off the season Sept. 6.

With months of off-season workouts and plenty of time spent lifting in the weight room, the outdoor scrimmage was just what the Stallions needed to get mentally and physically prepared for the season.

Madera South head coach Scott Donegan, who has guided the program since it officially started in 2006, listed the upside of having a scrimmage like this for his players...
