Stallion wrestling program builds toward the future

After winning the North Yosemite League title and placing eighth in the Yosemite Valley Championships last season, the Madera South wrestling program has certainly earned the respect of teams section wide.

While the Stallions only have two returning seniors and a number of key wrestlers out for various reasons, opponents shouldn’t take this team full of potential lightly.

“This will be a fun year,” Stallion head coach Jason Gaeth-Pearce said. “It’s always fun when you have a team with so many young wrestlers to be able to see them exceed expectations, rise to another level as well as who can break out of their shell and really surprise you.”

Though the Stallions will have more sophomores and freshmen than upperclassmen on the varsity roster, Pearce expects his guys to always give opposing wrestlers a tough match...
