Stallion runners set records; ranked nationally

With everything that has been accomplished in past seasons by his cross country programs, it seems nothing should surprise Madera South head coach Rich Parris anymore.

Yet Parris — a multi Coach of the Year award winner who has a number of invitational wins, numerous state and national rankings, along with 10 Central Section championships in various divisions throughout the years — was certainly caught off guard with how his team did in its latest meet.

In the Clovis Invitational at Woodward Park, which is also the course that is home to the Central Section and State Meet in November, the Stallion boys team put on a memorable performance that left quite an impression on Parris and others as well.

The Stallions finished second overall with a team time of 1:18.28 and fell just 15 points shy of Saturday’s winner which was top-ranked Arcadia (80 points, 1:17:47)...
