When Sophia Rios first attended Madera South High School during freshmen orientation, she wasn’t thinking about running for the cross country team.
However, four years has changed the future for Rios.
On Tuesday, Rios signed a National Letter of Intent to run cross country for the UC Merced Bobcats.
“It is very exciting,” Rios said. “What I liked about them was they set up a whole meeting just for me. The coaches took the time out of their day to show me the school, take me to dinner and introduce me to the runners. They welcomed me like a family.” ...
