Flawless victory. That is the best way to describe how the Madera South boys cross country team came away with its second consecutive County/Metro Athletic Conference championship.
The Stallion boys — who are currently No. 2 in the state according to prepcaltrack.com and ranked No. 6 in the country by XCnation.com — got the job done by having all seven of their runners place first through seventh Friday afternoon in Fresno’s Woodward Park.
Just as impressive, the Madera South girls team — rated No. 1 in Div. II in the Central Section — also won another CMAC championship and earned a trip to Thursday’s section finals at Woodward Park.
“I can say that I thought we had a very spectacular day overall,” Madera South head coach Rich Parris said. “In the varsity boys race, we got a perfect score and in the varsity girls race we finished with 19 points. It was great win for us and I was really proud of them.” ...
