The real road to the CIF State Championships begins today with the County/Metro Athletic Conference championships for the Madera South Stallions boys cross country team.

The Stallions have shown the Central Section they are the best team with a No. 1 ranking in Div. I and are ranked No. 3 in the state. They will begin a quest for a State title at 11 a.m. in Woodward Park.

Madera South is the hands-down favorites to win the CMAC championship in their first year in the league after dominating the North Yosemite League the past four years.

“If we run like we can, we can win,” head coach Rich Parris said. “We’re working so hard right now. It’s going to be a good day for us. To win a league title is huge for us.” ...
