Stallion baseball gets back on track

The Madera South Stallion baseball team got a solid performance from ace Anthony Valle and production from the bottom of the batting order for a 5-3 victory Monday at Eddie Chapa Field over the Hoover-Fresno Patriots.

In their first game in 11 days, the Stallions shook off the rust for a North Yosemite League victory after spring break and a week of rain. The 6-9 batters in the Stallion batt ing order (Ryan Beavers, Devan Galindo, Adriano Coronado and Fidel Amezcua) scored five runs, drew three walks, had two hits and put down two sacrifice bunts in the rain make-up game.

“We did a lot of small stuff good,” head coach John Fernandez said. “We have to be able to produce runs. We got the leadoff hitter on four times and that makes it easier to get runners around to score.”

Valle battled through cramps in the late innings to scatter nine hits and allow three runs. He struck out 11 and didn’t walk a batter to get the win...
