After opening the season with seven straight losses, the Madera South High football team doesn't have to fret anymore as the softer part of the schedule starts Friday. The Stallions will host Fresno High on Homecoming Night as the Warriors return to the field they were throttled on in September.
The last time Fresno was seen playing a game at Memorial Stadium, they were whitewashed, 49-14, by a Madera Coyote team that narrowly escaped with a 14-13 win over Madera South on Oct. 2.
The Stallions come into the game with an 0-2 North Yosemite League record but with the Warriors, Roosevelt-Fresno and McLane-Fresno due up on the schedule, the Stallions could gain some playoff momentum, not to mention a winning league record.
Fresno High (1-6, 1-1) does come in on a bit of high after beating McLane-Fresno, 27-14, to extend the Highlanders Central Section losing streak 28 games. The Warriors were blown out by San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno, 48-6, in the North Yosemite League opener, a team the Stallions lost to 28-0.
