Nolte steps in to take over Liberty football

Saturday, August 15, 2009

By Tyler Takeda

MADERA RANCHOS - After being named the offensive coordinator after last season as an assistant with the Liberty Hawk football team, new head coach Mike Nolte was then named the third head coach in Liberty's school history in July after former head coach Chris Imperatrice accepted an administrative position with the school and had to relinquish his head coach title.

However, Imperatrice will still help coach the team as the defensive coordinator. But instead of going to practice in flip-flops and a T-shirt, Imperatrice wears a polo shirt and shoes to practice.

Nolte, 40, came to Liberty last year as a special education teacher and a member of the coaching staff for many years with Central High School.

"This is the perfect situation for me," Nolte said. "This is a place that fits me. I just feel at home here. I'm really happy that I made to move to come out here and I'm here for a long time."
