Spills and thrills in abundance at Speedway’s 200-lap Enduro

With 24 cars and a track covered in soap and water, the 200-lap Enduro race held during the LoanMart Madera Speedway’s Spring Fling Night Saturday was full of spinning cars, big crashes, and aggressive traffic driving.

The race — which removes the yellow caution flag entirely and only stops drivers if a car is completely unable to move on the track — claimed nine cars by its completion to engine trouble or wrecks as drivers spun out or collided with each other nearly continuously.

There were at least 30 such exciting moments in the 200-lap race, which had a surprisingly-close finish given its chaotic style.

Through 100 laps, when drivers left the track so more soap and water could be added and the direction of the race could be reversed, it was Ron Wills’ race to win or lose...
