After a week off, the LoanMart Madera Speedway will open Saturday for a night of pure local racing, with point gaps in three classes slim enough to see lead changes.

Speedway owner Kenny Shepherd said that as the local classes enter their final four points races of the season it was unusual to see so many championships still up for grabs.

“Usually the championships are pretty well decided by this point,” Shepherd said. “So with three of the five on the line that's pretty special and a real highlight.”

The feature of the evening will be the V8-powered LunkerDaddy Late Model Series, where last year's point champion, Tony “The Tiger” Schmitz holds a meager 14 point lead over consistent threat Matt Erickson...
