The Madera Coyote softball team took advantage of seven Sanger Apache errors Tuesday to invoke the mercy rule for the second time in three games at Zimmerman Field.
For the second straight home game, the Coyotes put more than 10 runs on the board, including six in the final two innings for a 13-3 County Metro Athletic Conference victory.
The win virtually assures the Coyotes (6-1) of second place in the CMAC, putting them two games ahead of Sanger (4-3) with three to play.
“We did what we had to do today,” head coach Judy Shaubach said. “You have to show up against teams that we are better than. We hit the ball hard at them today. The ball was bouncing off of them.”...
