Sluggish Coyotes beat Panthers

In a game originally delayed by Friday’s storm, the Madera Coyote softball team must have switched its bats with umbrellas during the make-up game.

The Coyotes were blanked through the first four innings Monday before pushing over a pair of runs in the fifth for a 3-0 County/Metro Athletic Conference victory over the San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno Panthers at Zimmerman Field.

Madera had three hits in the first four innings and left six runners on base. Over the final two innings, the Coyotes banged out seven hits to score the three runs.

Three runs was all pitcher Emily Martinez would need. She tossed her second CMAC shutout and struck out seven batters despite an inconsistent strike zone. She tossed a three-hitter and allowed just two runners to reach second base…
