Madera coaches split on CIF decision

The Central Section office decided at a meeting last week to stage all six Central Section baseball championship games at one site.

Approved by the section’s board of managers as a one-year pilot program, the six baseball Valley Championship games will be held in May in Visalia’s Rawhide Ballpark, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Single-A affiliate. The finals will be May 23-24.

Unfortunately for the Coyotes, the decision comes about five months too late. Coyote baseball fans filled San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno’s home baseball field to watch the Coyotes win a Div. II Central Section Championship.

Fans packed Memorial’s three bleachers and went about five to 10 people deep down the fence line and even filled the Panthers’ football bleachers that overlook the field...
