Seven NorCal titles for wrestling brothers receiving local honor

When Frank Rodriguez decided to pick up the sport of wrestling, his little brother Ace was right behind and the Madera wrestling community relished in their success.

By the time the brothers finished their four years at Madera High School in 1958 and 1959, they had racked up eight Central Valley Championships and seven Northern California (State) Championships.

“It was because of my brother that I got into wrestling,” said Ace Rodriguez, 70. “That was probably the only sport we could play when we’re small. I learned a lot from my brother. Even at home, we would wrestle around on the floors.”

The brothers will be honored along with twin brothers Allen and Alex Smith, Kim Young, Vince Bowen, coach Bill Musick and the 1996 Madera Coyote baseball team Saturday at the Madera Municipal Golf Course as the Madera Athletic Hall of Fame’s fourth class...

So excited, just as much as my Tio Cheno is. Wish our Tio kiko was still alive to enjoy the special honors they will be recieving. Got the whole gang(family) coming from all over to be with our uncles and to congradulate them on there high school acheivements.
