Scholarship tournament now on sand

For the first time in three years, the Italian Stallion 2-on-2 volleyball tournament will be played on sand.

The tournament has previously been played on grass at Town and Country Park. However, tournament founder Steve Guglielmana built four sand volleyball courts at his home and named them Landon Courts at the Triumph Volleyball Academy at the northeast corner of Avenue 7 and Road 29 1/2.

All proceeds from the Sept. 8 tournament will benefit the Landon Guglielmana Memorial Scholarship.

Landon, Steve’s son, died in an automobile accident while attending Limestone College in 2009...
