When it comes to facing the Madera baseball team in its home stadium, there haven’t been many visiting squads in the past two years that have left Mel Parker Field with a win.

Throw Sanger in that rare company as the Apaches (8-2, 1-1 County/Metro Athletic Conference) handed the Coyotes (9-4, 0-2) a 7-1 defeat Tuesday night on Mel Parker Field that snapped Madera’s 13-game home-winning streak.

“We just didn’t play our game,” Madera head coach Andy Underwood said.

As dominant as the Coyotes have been at home — winning 21 out of the past 22 —Madera uncharacteristically fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning after Sanger recorded four hits off starting pitcher Alec Gamboa...
