Galindo drives in seven and Roberts throws complete-game three-hitter

After four straight days of practicing, the Madera Coyotes were itching to play an opponent and exploded for seven runs in the first two innings in a 13-4 playoff victory Friday over the Hanford West Huskies.

Fernando Galindo drove in seven runs with a 4-for-4 day. Pitcher Scott Roberts tossed a complete-game three-hitter and struck out seven to send the No 2 seed Coyotes into the semifinals.

“We have been practicing for four days in a row and dealing with anxiety all week is tough,” head coach Andy Underwood said. “They responded real well. You can’t ask for anything better going into the next game.”

Galindo wasn’t alone in the offense that produced 15 hits. Roberts was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Joseph Mendrin was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, a double and a run scored. Tristen Alvarez went 2-for-3 with three runs. Bubba Rios hit a double and Michael Say scored two runs from the leadoff spot...
