Rain hits Hawks and Stallions

It looked like the impending storm coming to the Central Valley was going to wait long enough for the Liberty Hawks and Madera South Stallion baseball teams to finish their Central Baseball Classic match up Wednesday afternoon at Liberty.

However, the rain came and umpires called the game in the middle of the fifth inning with the Stallions holding onto a 2-1 lead.

The Hawks and Stallions will continue today, if Liberty’s field is ready, with the Hawks coming to the plate. If Liberty’s field is not ready, the game will be played at Madera South.

“We got a brutal draw in the tournament,” Liberty head coach Martin Carvalho said. “However, we have to play the team on our schedule and playing teams like this will make us better.” ...
