Poythress leads Bulldogs in meet

Senior Kevin Poythress (Madera) paced the Fresno State cross country team with a 40th place finish Oct. 19 in the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. Poythress finished with a time of 24:39.2 and led the team for the third straight meet. Next for the Bulldogs is the Mountain West Championships in Colorado Springs on Nov. 1. 

Jordan Moineau (Liberty) scored on a header in the 42nd minute to help the Cal State Stanislaus women’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory Cal State Monterey Bay on Oct. 18. She also had a shot in a 1-0 overtime win over San Francisco State on Sunday. 

In a 1-0 loss to USC Upstate, Jacksonville University women’s soccer goalkeeper Sarah Sierra (Madera) recorded eight saves on 22 shots on goal on Oct. 18. In a 3-0 victory over East Tennessee State on Sunday, Sierra recorded one save on 17 shots on goal to pick up a shutout. 

Ben Cowger (Liberty) recorded a tackle in a 31-7 victory over North Dakota for Sacramento State on Oct. 19. Punter Justin Weldon (Liberty) averaged 35.5 yards on four punts in the game...
