The roller-coaster season continues for Fresno State’s baseball team (15-19), as the young squad has struggled to find defensive consistency.
Bulldog head coach Mike Batesole, who is starting four to five freshmen a game, said that’s how it is with young teams. You have to take the good with the bad.
“These young players aren’t going to get better sitting by the water cooler,” Batesole said. “They have to be out on the field to get better and to learn.
“The game is going faster than they thought. You can coach them, tell them, but most of these lessons, like lessons in life, you have to live it and bang your head against the wall a few times before you get it. They’re at the heart of that right now.” ...
