Perkins set to play in All-Star game

Madera senior Shellie Perkins accomplished all she could as a four-year starter for the Coyote basketball team.

And now the two-time, first-team AllCounty Metro Athletic Conference selection and The Madera Tribune’s girls basketball Most Valuable Player will try to take her game up a notch as a member of the North squad in the first Central Valley North-South All-Star Basketball Game Saturday night at Mission Oak High in Tulare.

“We’ve had three practices and the players are very good,” Perkins said. “The game is a lot faster than I am used to but it has been fun getting to know the other girls and learning from them.”

There have always been all-star games, but most with a format like the annual City/County games that are reserved for much smaller geographical locations...
