Although it may be his first season as the head coach for the Madera girls soccer team, Garrett Perez is certainly raising the bar for his players.
The former Coyote soccer player, who was a member of the 1997-1998 Calley championship team, takes over a team that is returning a majority of its players who saw varsity action on last season’s 12-14-1 squad, which achieved a 5-5 record in the County/Metro Athletic Conference.
“We do have some players with varsity experience but we are still relatively young,” Perez said. “This is my first year coaching on the high school level and I’m excited about the opportunity to coach here with the quality of players we have.”
While Perez feels he has inherited a very talented and skilled group of players, he also believes there is always room for improvement...
