Papa Murphy’s didn’t need a late-inning home run to advance to the District 10 Tournament of Champions against River Park Little League champions, Red Sox.

The game didn’t even get into the late innings. Papa Murphy’s, the Madera American Little League and City champions, banged out eight hits in a 10-0, mercy-rule, four-inning victory Thursday at Mike Howe Field.

Papa Murphy’s scored in three of the four innings highlighted by a two-run home run by Jalen Gray, who also scored three runs.

“Our kids were prepared and focused,” manager Bo Bertoncini said. “I had a good feeling about tonight. We’re trying to make history to become the first Madera American team to win the TOC.” ...
