Although it is still early in the season, the prevailing cloud around the Madera Coyote softball team is its inability to get the third out without damage.
The Coyotes, fresh off its 3-2 victory over Central-Fresno on Tuesday, held tough against the El Diamante-Visalia Miners on Thursday, going scoreless through the first two innings at Zimmerman Field.
The Miners got a one out double and then a flyout for the second out. With two outs, the Miners’ next five batters reached base for a four-run inning and left the Coyotes grasping for air.
“Again, it’s our youth and maturity,” head coach Judy Shaubach said. “We can’t seem to get that third out when we need it. We also gave up too many hits with two strikes.” ...
