No-hitter leads Coyotes to win

Madera Coyote freshman Emily Martinez did something Friday against the Madera South Stallions that hadn’t been done in 36 other games this season.

She came within an error of tossing her first career varsity perfect game and settled for her first no-hitter to lead the Coyotes to a 6-0 regular season-ending victory over the Stallions at Madera South.

Martinez struck out five, didn’t walk a batter and faced one batter over the minimum for the win.

“I wanted to finish the batters hard and strong,” Martinez said. “It’s pretty awesome. I got this chance to pitch the last game and it felt good. I’m ready to start this game for the next three years. I couldn’t have done it without my team, either. Without them, I would have never got the chance to throw that no-hitter.”...
