New Liberty head coach Eli Liuba had only been out of a coaching job for three months before finding a nesting spot — with the Liberty Hawks girls soccer team.

Liuba, who previously coached the Madera Coyote girls soccer team for four years, was officially named the Liberty girls soccer head coach June 19 at the Golden Valley Unified School District board meeting and has been working hard to build to next season.

“I’m hoping to meet the team next week and talk to the girls to get their input,” Liuba said. “I’m going to try to have workouts over the summer.”

After the Coyote girls soccer season ended, Liuba’s contract wasn’t renewed for the next season. He was looking at his first summer without coaching in 14 years because he wasn’t involved with a travel team...
