New football coach brings faster game

First-year head coach Tim DeRuyter has introduced a fast, physical and fanatical style of football, on offense and defense, which should allow the Bulldogs to play at the highest level.

DeRuyter said the success of former coaches Jim Sweeney and Pat Hill gives him the drive, along with a sense of responsibility, to aim high and push past the envelope.

“When you look at the legacy that has been built by Sweeney and Hill it tells you a couple things. One, they were outstanding coaches,” DeRuyter (De-roo-ter) said. “Two, there is an infrastructure here, support from the community and administration, and history.”

“With where we’re located, the recruiting base we have, you can do it here.” ...
