In its first real match of the season, the Liberty Hawks girls volleyball team came away with a resounding victory to open the home portion of its 2013 season.

Under its fourth head coach in sixth seasons, the Hawks put away Kings Christian in three quick sets, 25-17, 25-11, 25-8, Thursday evening.

“We were pretty dominant on defense,” new Liberty head coach Brandon St. Lucia said. “They didn’t have any offense. We played pretty solid defensively. We stayed consistent and kept the ball on the court.”

Tanya Ramirez led the Hawks with 11 kills while Diana Chapa had 10 and Claire Copher had eight. Liberty was also missing starting outside hitter Darbi Duke...
