Taking over a program that has won four straight league championships may seem like a tough task for any new coach as the expectations are very high.
New Madera South girls volleyball coach Nathan Perez, 26, is ready to take on the challenge and is pleased that he doesn’t have an empty cupboard.
Perez, who graduated in 2004 from Madera High, played volleyball for the Coyotes and was an outside hitter and libero at Fresno State for a season. He then coached with current Madera High boys volleyball coach Rhonda Jefferson from 2005-2007 and was an assistant at Bullard-Fresno High School, where he is a boys volleyball assistant this season.
“Nate has a wide range of experience,” Madera South athletic director Marty Bitter said. “He has worked with a couple of collegiate programs and has grown into a quality and responsible coach who is ready to make the transition into becoming a fine head coach.” ...
