After 38 years of coaching gymnastics in about 10 different gyms, the past 25 years in Madera, a Madera South teacher has finally decided to open her own gym.

Madera South physical education teacher Tammi Britton, along with coaching counterpart Coleen Spraggins, are in the final stages of bring TEC Gymnastics to life.

Britton hopes to open the doors to a lifelong dream on March 1 at a 7,500-square-foot building off the corner of Noble and Gill avenues near the Madera Unified School District Transportation Department.

“We’re going to start with that and hope to expand,” Britton said. “We planned everything out. We already have a spring floor that we’ve put together. We’ve purchased some beams and this weekend we’re going to San Luis (Obispo) to purchase more equipment. We hope to buy a second spring floor so we can hold cheer and other team practices.” ...
