Coming off his best professional baseball season, former Madera High graduate Gary Moran hopes to parlay it into a season in Triple-A.
Moran spent last season in Double-A for the Mississippi Braves in Pearl, Miss. with the Atlanta Braves organization. He was 5-10 in 23 starts for the Braves with two complete games and had a 2.91 earned run average to lead the Southern League.
“I was really excited and pleased about my year,” Moran said. “It was one of the best years I’ve had. I was really pleased with how I threw and progressed. It gave me good confidence moving on.”
Moran closed out the year with a stretch of 10 straight starts with at least six innings pitched. He closed out the year with an ERA of 1.42 in his final three starts to win the ERA title by 0.11 runs...
