Montes wins the season opener at Madera Speedway

Dallas Montes led wire-to-wire Saturday to become the first winner on Madera Speedway’s new surface in the 2012 season opener.

Montes held off charges from Brian Richardson and Trevor Schlundt to pick up $1,000 for winning round one of the Coors Light Open late model series.

Rick Thompson was involved in a late race accident that turned what looked to be a good night into a rough one. The bad news was he finished 11th. The good news is that Montes drew 11 out of a hat in victory lane to give Thompson the $200 Coors Light blind draw bonus.

Robert Reagan won the 250-lap Spring Fling enduro race, Jerry Selsor won the 50-lap Hobby Stock main event and Dave Kong picked up the win in the 4-Banger Open...
