Montagna, Cabrillo to fight for state title

Led by co-captain Kelsee Montagna (Madera), Cabrillo College will battle for the California Community College Athletic Association women’s volleyball championship today at 2 p.m.

Undefeated Cabrillo will play Grossmont College, the No. 2 seed out of the southern region to open the state championship at Foothill College.

Cabrillo dismantled Alameda College in its first northern California regional playoff game in three sets Nov. 26, allowing just 29 points. Montagna had six kills to go with six locks and four digs.

In the quarterfinal round, Cabrillo defeated Santa Rosa Community College in three sets on Nov. 30. In the win, Montagna had eight kills, three service aces and five blocks...
