The second leading scorer in Liberty Hawks girls soccer history didn’t take long to make her presence felt in her first two college soccer matches.

Jordan Moineau scored a goal in her first collegiate game, a 5-2 victory over Notre Dame De Namur-Belmont. In a 3-0 victory over St. Martins-Lacey, Wash., Moineau recorded an assist on the match’s final goal.

UC Merced’s Valeria Martinez (Madera South) was named the California Pacific Conference Volleyball Player of the week on Monday for her play Aug. 20-26. She had 36 kills with 38 digs in a three games during the week, all victories. In seven games for the Bobcats, Martinez has 78 kills with 63 digs in seven matches.

Samantha Dougherty (Madera) put down nine kills in a three game sweep over La Sierra University-Riverside for The Master’s College-Santa Clarita. She has 68 kills to lead The Master’s College to a 6-0 record, including wins over No. 8 ranked Lewis & Clark State-Lewiston, Idaho and No. 23 Cal State San Marcos...
