Moineau leads CSU Stanislaus to top soccer ranking

Jordan Moineau (Liberty) and the Cal State Stanislaus women’s soccer team have earned the No. 7 ranking in the nation and are the top-ranked team in the NCAA West region.

Toni Murphy (Madera) recorded a service ace and four digs in a 3-1 loss to Hawaii Hilo on Monday for the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds women’s volleyball team. Murphy played all five sets in a victory over Hawaii Pacific on Oct. 26. She recorded 11 kills with 14 digs in the match. She had a kill and eight digs in a five-set loss to Chaminade on Oct. 25. 

Jacksonville University women’s soccer goalkeeper Sarah Sierra (Madera) allowed two goals with six saves in a 2-1 overtime loss on Oct. 25 against Kennesaw State. Sierra recorded four saves in a 2-1 victory over Mercer College as the Dolphins clinched the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Sun tournament and will play in the semifinals on Friday. 

At the Mountain West Championships, Fresno State men’s cross country senior Kevin Poythress (Madera) placed second on the team with a 52nd place finish. Poythress and teammate Danny Vartanian finished No. 1 and No. 2 on the team in all five races this season...
