Mistakes still hinder Stallions

Unfortunately for Madera South girls basketball coach Matt Toews, it’s the same story he has seen all year — too many turnovers, too many fouls and too many missed shots Thursday led to a 69-21 loss to the Sanger Apaches.

“We are going in the wrong direction,” Toews said. “We gave them 24 free throws in the first half. We can’t put them on the line all night. There’s no transition from practice to games. We have no composure. Some of the girls work really hard.”

The Stallions committed 31 turnovers Thursday, shot just 16 percent (nine of 57) from the field, including 15 percent (four of 26) from 3-point range and had 13 fouls in the first half and 17 for the game.
