FRESNO — It was the win that got away for the Madera South boys basketball team.

The Stallions led by five points with a minute and a half left in the game before McLane-Fresno forced two key turnovers and hit two big 3-pointers Tuesday in a 40-39 win to stun Madera South at McLane High.

“We didn’t take care of the basketball or make smart decisions as far as half court sets offensively,” said Madera South head coach Jody Sharp. “We had guys trying to be selfish and not take advantage of the clock with the fact that we were in the double bonus because McLane had 10 team fouls.”

The end result was Madera South (19-5) losing its second straight North Yosemite League game as it fell to 4-3 while McLane (11-13) improved to 4-3...
