CHOWCHILLA — A 3-0 first inning deficit was too much for the Madera National Little League champion McDonald’s to overcome against Chowchilla Little Leaue champions, YMI.
McDonald’s, which was coming off a 8-2 loss to Papa Murphy’s in the Madera Little League Majors City Championship game, suffered a 4-2 elimination loss Tuesday on Kilday Field in the opening game of the District 10 Tournament of Champions.
While Brixton Gomes started on the mound for McDonald’s (18-7), YMI sent eight batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning and capitalized on two infield hits, one walk, one error and a hit batter to put McDonald’s in a 3-0 hole.
